Ceres Byen is a new quarter being constructed in the centre of Aarhus, and the groundbreaking for C.F. Møller's ’Bryggerhaven’ project brings the quarter a step further in achieving the objective of a vibrant area of the city with commercial outlets, a study environment, parks and attractive homes.
Green heart
C.F. Møller's contribution to this, besides being behind the master plan for the overall transformation of the area, is the ’Bryggerhaven’ project, creating 230 homes for students and young families. This complex is a neighbour to Ceres Corner, another C.F. Møller project.
Bryggerhaven is divided into small, shareable two-to-three roomed flats, and one-room studios, which are intended especially for the city's young people and students, and young families. The residential blocks are built of brick, with timber sections towards the courtyard, in a staggered pattern so that the overall complex has a varied façade profile.
At the heart of the complex is a green courtyard, with a soft and rolling grass landscape designed for sunlight all day long, and evening sun in the summer months. The aim is to add an idyllic country atmosphere to urban life, with recreational areas placed between the courtyard space's low hills and changing levels. There is free access to the courtyard area through small alleys between the buildings, and also from Ceres Allé, where a large bricked arch marks the entrance to the courtyard complex. Each of the flats in the complex will have access to its own balcony.
