Three teams have been selected as winners of the first phase of the competition to create 78,000 m² of new acute treatment facilities for the New Hospital and Mental Health Bispebjerg, a 1.6 billion DKK project. C.F. Møllers and Terroirs proposal is a reinterpretation of the existing Bispebjerg Hospital’s listed pavilion structure and landscaping from 1913, with strong references to both the hospital's architecture and the surrounding Copenhagen Northwest district. Healing Architecture The new acute ward constitutes the largest part of the New Hospital and New Psychiatry Bispebjerg and includes emergency room, operating rooms, wards and many other features that are essential for the future hospital. The project is designed with an emphasis on light, air, closeness to nature and easy wayfinding, as a concrete expression of the ideas behind healing architecture integrated with green landscape. The three winning teams are led by C.F. Møller, Cowi, and a consortium of KHR Architects, WHR Architects Europe and Arup Denmark respectively. In the first phase of the competition, teams led by Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects, Rafael de la Hoz Arquitectos, Perkins + Will, Brunet-Saunier Architecture and AIA Associés also participated. The final winner will be selected in mid-2015.
