Architect Mads Møller has died at age 71

It is with great sadness and dismay that we have received the message of Mads Møller's sudden death. He was active to the last, and his importance for the company's activities and position is beyond doubt.
He had just completed a festive monograph on the occasion of his 45th anniversary at the studio, a book which now stands as the impressive testimony of his enormous output and significance in C.F. Møller Architects, and also highlights his position as an important figure in Danish architecture in general. The list of significant works is impressively long, but should one highlight a particular work, it would probably be the Ravnsbjerg church in Aarhus. It embodies Mads' lifelong search to unite materiality, function and the site-specific into a seamless whole. And it ties in with a number of related works, ranging from the continuation of the University of Aarhus campus to the A.P. Møller School in Schleswig. Mads and the entire studio have also been looking forward to the completion of Bestsellers new office building in the port of Aarhus, which Mads now unfortunately will not get a chance to experience. For decades, Mads was the company's calm but steadfast anchor point, who played a major role in the studio's evolution into Denmark's largest architectural firm without losing the architectural focus. As a pronounced team player, he understood the importance of a partnership based on equal parts friendship and a dedicated professional community. We have lost a friend and a great professional capacity, and our thoughts are with his wife Inge, his children and grandchildren and the immediate family. Mads' funeral will be held Saturday June 22, 13:00, at the Ravnbjerg church in Viby J. We honor his memory. Partnership and Employees of C.F. Møller Architects
