Selected for the New Herlev Hospital

C.F. Møller and Alectia engineers have been selected to deliver a new technical services complex as part of the New Herlev Hospital masterplan. The 275 mio. Dkr. project includes laboratories, energy centre, logistics facilities, plant rooms and infrastructure.
The existing Herlev Hospital by architects Brüel, Bornebusch and Selchau dates from 1976, and includes the tallest building in Denmark, the 120 meter bed ward tower. The new Copenhagen region healthcare plan envisions Herlev Hospital to become one of the major regional acute hospitals, and the 'New Herlev Hospital' masterplan will create the necessary facilities to accommodate the increased activities. As part of designing the new technical services complex, lead consultant Alectia and C.F. Møller will be working with sustainable solutions, user consultations, and building remodelling and extensions while maintaining full operational capacity of the Hospital. Logistics and staff are central The assignment includes extending the current plant by approx. 6,100 m2, extending the hospital chapel, new technical units and logistical infrastructure, ground works and landscaping, new underground extensions and new green energy systems and sustainable solutions. A special focus will be to create a physical environment centred on optimal logistics and the needs of the staff, through cooperation and user consultations, especially concerning interior layout, light air, health and safety as well as fire safety, hygiene, patient safety, medico-technical installations and furnishings etc. C.F. Møller and Alectia have a long record of delivering projects for the healthcare sector, and are among other projects currently cooperating on Denmark's first new super-hospital, the New University Hospital in Aarhus. The Herlev project is expected to commence in September 2012.
