The competition is for a new 25,000 m² forensic psychiatry centre at the St. Hans Psychiatric Hospital in the Copenhagen Capital Region. The 550 million DKK project will from 2018 on provide a completely new framework for Denmark's largest psychiatric department. The region's vision for the future of psychiatry, where the patient is the focal point, forms the background for the project. The vision is that the new forensic psychiatric department will create new standards for the treatment of psychiatric patients, and become a model centre at both national and international level. The building will be located in a unique and scenic environment on a 40ha site overlooking the Roskilde Fjord; and in addition to the treatment and rehabilitation of the individual patient the centre is designated to focus on functionality and safety of patients and staff, sustainable solutions and landscape integration. The team consists of C.F. Moller as lead consultant, with EFFEKT architects, Alectia engineers, Søren Jensen Engineers and Aggebo & Henriksen (as artistic consultants). The other two teams are headed by Arkitema Architects and KHR Architects respectively. The final winner is expected to be announced this summer.
