The idea of the winning project is to transform the local school, Søndervangsskolen, which is today an introvert building, into the area's new rendezvous, by integrating the facilities of the school and of the community center. The community centre is designed as an addition to the existing school building - with a glass façade the extension will be a transition area, linking the school and a new square unifying the entire district. Stairs and ramps will lead visitors to the entrance, creating smooth transition between the different ground levels of the area and creating seating for both resting and different kinds of events. The community centre will have a flexible layout, offering space for different kinds of sports, language courses, concerts etc. The integration of the school and the community center facilities makes it possible to make optimal use of the premises - all round the clock.
