The extension is one level below grade and consists of a clean and simple exhibition space. Access to the new exhibition space is through a glass prism in the courtyard, with direct access to the existing exhibition rooms on the ground floor. The glass prism and elongated skylight stretching along the one side of the new exhibition space is a key element drawing light into the space and giving a sense of space and sky above. These elements also create a natural connection between the extension and the existing museum.
