Kasper Bejerholm has worked at C.F. Møller for two years, initially for a period of practical work experience and since as an intern.
He is proud to have been part of the team behind a number of prominent projects - but most of all he is proud to have worked on an office building in Aarhus, where his team mates listened to his ideas for the design expression of the façade.

More responsibility
"At Aarhus School of Architecture people say that if you work at a small studio, you get more responsibility than you would at a large studio. During my time at C.F. Møller, I haven't found this to be the case. On the contrary," he says.

From the beginning of his practical work experience, Kasper was thrown in at the deep end: A competition project to extend Marselisborg Gymnasium in Aarhus. Apart from Kasper, the team comprised a partner and a qualified architect.

"I was thrown in at the deep end," says Kasper, who was asked to experiment with different options in relation to the layout of the classrooms.
"I was really pleased about this - and surprised. This wasn't a case of the partner making a quick sketch for me to work from. I was allowed to work on my own and expected to explain my ideas. One of my ideas was actually used in the final design. It was exciting and challenging," he says.

Great dialogue
Following his practical work experience, he worked at C.F. Møller for 18 months as an intern. For six months of this period, he worked full-time. Working at C.F. Møller has given Kasper a wealth of practical experience. For example, he was on the competition team behind the design of the Faculty of Health at Aarhus University. He was also involved in the project planning phase of the new International School Ikast-Brande, a new logistics centre in Randers and an office building in Aarhus.

"I think the work I do here is unusual for an intern. All in all, I have worked in the model workshop for no more than 1-2 weeks. I take part in project planning. I am allowed to try my hand at things and then the leaders come along to guide me. We have a great dialogue. In certain situations, of course, a leader has to intervene and dictate a solution but I think this very rarely happens."

Kasper feels he is treated well - on a par with his qualified colleagues, both in the studio and outside.
"When everyone at the company was to attend a REVIT Architecture training course, I was invited to come along. I liked that."

People here respect a no
Sailing takes up much of his free time. Kasper has sailed since he was a child. Not only is he a competitive yachtsman, he also coaches in Denmark and abroad.

"I have been very pleased that C.F. Møller respects the fact that sailing is important to me. I sail two afternoons a week and I have never found it difficult to plan my work so that I can get down to the waterfront by 5 pm. This means a lot to me. And if I have had to decline an offer to take part in a project, I have never felt there was any pressure to explain why or to change my mind. People here respect a no - even if it comes from a guy on practical work experience or an intern. It's signally important that your employer appreciates that your life has to balance - work, leisure and studies, which, from time to time, can be hectic. If not, you'll wear yourself out one day."
