C.F. Møller among the world's most innovative architectural firms

The renowned US business magazine Fast Company has included C.F. Møller Architects on an exclusive list, with a focus on sustainability and innovation of building - and living - vertically.
In the brand-new edition of Fast Company, C.F. Møller adorns an exclusive list of innovation leaders published annually by the progressive business magazine. The 2015 list honours the world's 50 most innovative companies, including some of the world's leading and fast-growing companies, and features global giants like Apple, Google, Netflix, Ikea and Toyota, while other profiles - Amazon and Twitter - both failed to earn a spot on this year’s list. Alongside Fast Company’s "The World's 50 Most Innovative Companies" list, the magazine has also published a list of the world's most innovative architectural firms in the "Top 10 Most Innovative Companies in Architecture". Danish presence on the prominent list Fast Company has selected C.F. Møller to be on the list of innovative architectural firms for the ability to combine tall building and new thinking: - C.F. Møller is included for their rethinking of the tower typology. Urban areas are growing faster than ever, and the World Health Organization (WHO) projects that six out of every 10 people on Earth are expected to live in a city by 2030. - For the majority of us, the future, by necessity, will be vertical, Fast Company states. Socializing and wooden living In connection with the listing of C.F. Møller, Fast Company emphasizes two projects essential for the future of architecture when building tall residential towers. - C.F. Møller is rethinking not only how we build residential towers, but how we use them. The firm is currently in the planning process for the world’s tallest wooden skyscraper. The 34-story Stockholm residence promises to be both cheaper and more sustainable than steel and concrete alternatives; writes Fast Company. - C.F. Møller is also solving residential skyscrapers’ other weakness: social isolation. For a 24-story Antwerp tower, the architects grouped apartments in mini communities of similar residents, like families and students. Ample communal space, including a communal dining area, balcony space, and winter gardens, ensures people have plenty of reasons to bump into each other. A push in the right direction For C.F. Møller, the place on the list confirms that the company's overall strategy and work is both visionary and innovative. - It is an international-level recognition that what we are doing something right, evolving into an exciting and relevant direction, explains Julian Weyer, partner in C.F. Møller. - We work from the ideal of the simple, clear and unpretentious. It has been like this since the studio was founded in 1924, and it is still reinterpreted in new projects - always site-specific and combined with sustainable, innovative and socially responsible design solutions. We are always looking to include innovation, and to be at the forefront, and it is obviously pleasing that the hard work is now being honoured, says Julian Weyer. The prominent list of architects features representatives from all over the globe. However, Denmark can boast of having two firms listed since BIG also features among the 10 most innovative architectural firms in the world. The magazine is in stores from February 17 - see Fast Company’s full list of the world's most innovative architectural practices via the link below:
