The annual Brick Awards now celebrates its 40th Birthday and continues to be one of the most well established and widely respected design and construction awards in the UK, showcasing exemplary design and architecture and recognizing excellence in brick and brickwork. Over 200 entries from architects, designers, owners, developers, house-builders, specialist brickwork contractors and brick manufacturers have been submitted in 2016, and the jury has chosen to shortlist two recent C.F. Møller projects in London, Elmwood Court in Battersea and ‘The Moore’ at Greenwich Peninsula. Elmwood Court, shortlisted in the category ‘Best Small Housing Development’, is a five storey, affordable housing scheme near Battersea Park, London that continues the tradition of the Victorian terrace mixing it with a Scandinavian approach and features a calm and refined brick façade. In the category Worldwide Project 2016, the jury has selected ‘The Moore’, a cleverly put together urban block that provides a mix of private, shared ownership and social rent tenures, located in one of London’s most important and ambitious new development areas, the Greenwich Peninsula. ’We are delighted to have received these nominations for two of our most recent buildings. Both projects embody our signature approach of merging the best of British housing tradition and local insights with a strong Scandinavian focus on daylight, sustainability and durability and integrating the building in its surroundings. We believe this delivers beautifully-crafted and well considered buildings that respond to their context, thereby enhancing quality of living both for residents and passersby’, says Rolf Nielsen, Architect and Associated Partner at C.F. Møller in London. Elmwood Court is designed for Peabody and ‘The Moore’ is designed for Knight Dragon Developments. Winners will be announced on Thursday 10th November at a reception at The Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London. More information on Brick Awards please visit: www.brick.org.uk C.F.
