C.F. Møller's Swedish branch is moving

C.F. Møller's Swedish branch, Berg | C.F. Møller Architects, is moving today from one address in central Stockholm to another. Among other benefits, the move will give the Swedish office better opportunities to grow.
For several years now the Stockholm office has been located in a striking elliptical building, at Slussen, next to the historical Södermalmstorg, for decades a focal point and favourite meeting place for the people of Stockholm. An era is now coming to an end. Slussen will be demolished. Our office will move to new and larger premises at Krukmakargatan 19, close to the vibrant green Mariatorget district. Berg | C.F. Møller Architects were instrumental in creating the need to move, as we won the contest to renovate the Slussen district in partnership with Foster + Partners. Today, Södermalm and Gamla Stan are separated by a labyrinth of small streets. However, the new master plan for the area will reconnect the two districts by means of a characteristic new footbridge, new plazas and a new promenade with cafés along the waterfront. The move to new premises will also give Berg | C.F. Møller Architects better opportunities to grow. In recent years, Berg | C.F. Møller Architects has successfully won a series of major design contests, most recently the HSB contest to design a new landmark residential complex in central Stockholm. Our office won with their proposal for a high-rise building with timber façades. Other important contests won include Värtaterminalen, the terminal building for Stockholm's high-speed ferry connections to Finland and the Baltic States - and the Biomedicum research centre for the medical university Karolinska Institutet.
