New residential area in Stockholm

Berg │ C.F. Møller Architects have been given the task of creating a new residential area, Valla 1, with around 90 apartments adjacent to Stockholm's extensive nature park, Årstafältet, as part of a major urban development project.
The housing project is part of a master plan created for the entire area in 2007 which focuses on transforming this former natural area at the city's periphery into a varied and vibrant urban quarter, with a profile that is both environmentally and socially sustainable. Sustainable urban lifestyle Berg │ C.F. Møller Architects have developed the new residential quarter's form identity and facilities, which has amongst other things involved a vision of a sustainable urban lifestyle with various service functions and qualities for the modern city dweller: sustainable transportation options including bicycles and common car pools, a restaurant, low energy consumption and other sustainable and eco-friendly solutions such as organic gardens. The buildings' roofs will for example have areas for relaxation, and gardens where residents can grow vegetables. Construction is planned to take place from 2015 to 2017.
