Ensō means circle in Japanese, and the circle and the soft curves characterize the design and unite the Nordic design tradition with inspiration from the Asian roots of tea rituals. The beautiful curves that close in at the top not only have an aesthetic but also a practical function: It makes the cups fit the hands snuggly and does not allow the heat and aroma to escape. A special feature is the stacking of the different pieces, which can be done in a multitude of imaginative configurations that take on a positively architectural expression - like small high-rise towers that can be re-invented every day. The set includes a selection of cups: an espresso cup, an ordinary coffee/tea cup and a thermal cup without a handle. The distinctive cup handles lend character to the design and provide a good, ergonomically correct hold. Also available are a sugar bowl, cream jug, carafe and teapot. There are plates in three different sizes (190mm, 220 mm and 260 mm), a cereal bowl (220 mm) and a serving dish. The cups also have lids, which double as egg cups. There is only one saucer, which matches all three types of cup. Saucers and plates can also be used as bowl lids, for example, when storing food in the refrigerator, and the rounded design makes this tableware particularly easy to clean. Ensō is being launched this week at the Formex fair in Stockholm (13-16. August), and the Formland fair in Herning (14-17. August). Ensō can be found in stores starting this fall.
