The distinguished award for the design department will have important consequences for the future marketing of C.F. Møller's design.
"The international recognition that accompanies the iF Product Design Award will help to raise the profile of our design department, which is currently experiencing rapid growth, and we are naturally very proud to have been awarded the prize," said Klavs Hyttel, partner and architect with C.F. Møller.
C.F. Møller's design department was established as an independent department in 2003, and works with both industrial design such as the Randi-Line Komé door handle series, interior design, and one-off designs of special fixtures. The design department has a staff of five, and is currently busy completing two furniture series to be presented at the Stockholm Furniture Fair in February 2009.
About Randi-Line Komé
Randi-Line Komé is a complete series of door handles, catches, rosettes and signs. Architectural, functional and ergonomic considerations formed the starting-point for the design of the series, which is manufactured in brushed stainless steel with a silk-textured surface.
The door handle is simple and symmetrical in form, and thereby harmonises with the horizontal and vertical lines of the architecture. The handle's edges and sloping surfaces give it character, and at the same time help to create an aesthetic interplay of light and shadow. The angled surface for the thumb gives the handle its own special identity, created in symbiosis with the functional requirements.
