The heart of the system is the fitting method, which is simplified to minimise the need for cranes, scaffolding, etc. The staircase can be fitted from the bottom using a simple work flow. A staircase need no longer be a potential risk to building schedules.
With its stringent, rigorous design expression, the system is as aesthetically striking as a bespoke staircase but offers a much wider range of combinations and applications.
Essential to the design is that Mount is fixed only on one side - it has so-called floating treads. Identical treads can be fitted in different ways, e.g. encapsulated in a wall, mounted on a stringer, with stiles or specially-designed columns, and with or without a landing.
A multi-purpose tread element has been developed for the staircase. This is mass-produced in steel moulds with an insert designed to accommodate a choice of tread variants, e.g. wood, steel, linoleum or bamboo - in fact, any floor covering at all.
The system can be used in many different types of spaces and contexts, ranging from floating foyer and entrance hall staircases to winding staircases and emergency exits in stairwells.
