Lærerstandens Brandforsikring - workplace design

At Amerika Plads in Copenhagen, one historical narrative meets another. The iconic Nordisk Fjer building houses the insurance company Lærerstandens Brandforsikring, where the framework has been developed to emphasise the company's identity, in an interplay between their history and the soul of the existing building. Through a darker colour scheme and materiality, a connection with the architectural framework and a cohesion across the building was created.

Workplace Design

Development of a design guide as a tool to support the choice of everything from building surfaces to material on furniture, wall colours and foil solutions. Development of a colour concept for the house, to create coherence and proximity despite the size of the domicile.

Preparation of an interior design guide that outlined the overall principles for the interior design of the domicile and at the same time ensured an overall coherence across the entire domicile. The guide presented several options for layout and use, so that the organisation's various departments could combine different solutions and thus ensure support for their different tasks and forms of work.

Developing a furniture project where the reuse of furniture and the purchase of new furniture created a unique expression that balanced the past and the future. Realisation of the inventory process, including the establishment of a budget based on a significant degree of reuse of inventory.

Detailed design of all areas of the headquarters (work areas, common areas, canteen, meeting and support rooms) based on the design guide and the furniture project.

Process Consultancy & User Involvement

Preparation of a process design for the process leading up to commissioning of the building. Involvement of section directors via dialogue meetings focusing on the design guide and location plans. Facilitation of project group meetings and workshops with interdisciplinary user groups, focussing on the examination of functional requirements and the use of the new physical framework.

Development of dialogue tools in connection with the implementation of the flexible workplace.
