When the University of Aarhus initiated an improvement of pavings and expansion of the bicycle parking spaces in the Nobel Park, the opportunity arose to revitalize the open spaces in general. A simple new concept creates a new central space and green heart, in the form of raised planted beds. The inner edges are activated as elongated curved benches, whilst the exterior edges organise the space as natural screening. The south-facing arrival area in the direction of Nørrebrogade, and the smaller outer spaces between the building bodies, are also organized with new elevations, which create a clear hierarchy between seating, bicycles, pedestrians, car lanes and parking.
