The project involves preparing an area development strategy for the districts surrounding Larvik railway station and the inner harbour – one of the most significant urban development initiatives in Larvik in recent decades. The strategy will define the overarching urban planning approach and serve as a guiding, non-legally binding framework for subsequent regulation and realisation. The work addresses a complex hub characterised by infrastructure, cultural heritage values, and considerable transformation potential, with the aim of creating a cohesive urban quarter with strong urban qualities and a stronger connection to the waterfront.
The project is carried out in close collaboration with Larvik Municipality and local stakeholders, with extensive public participation processes underpinning a realistic, long-term development scenario. The outcome is intended to facilitate the creation of a new urban quarter that integrates mobility, city life, and landscape qualities into a unified whole.
