The need for a larger area with facilities that support the overall experience of the guest at Aarhus Concert Hall has evolved since the New Lower Foyer was established in 2007. The foyer area is directly connected to the two halls Symphonic and Rhythmic Hall and is lowered at the end of the walkway from the main area and arrival foyer of Aarhus Concert Hall. The purpose of the foyer extension is to optimise audience flow and seating, which has been achieved by extending the existing walkway, creating a new bar, and new seating areas.
With the extension of the New Lower Foyer, different zones have been created so that guests can stay in varied environments and at the same time be part of the foyer area. As a space within the space at the end of the walkway, the new bar creates an intimate atmosphere with tables and highchairs overlooking the lower foyer area. In the transition between the bar area and the lower foyer a soft environment with cushioned and wraparound seating areas clad in oak panels has been integrated. In addition, cushioned benches in white steel and oak are placed along the glass façade between the pillars of the foyer. A wide wooden staircase connecting the original walkway to the lower foyer has been extended to further link the various seating areas, the bar, and the concert halls.
Outside, artist Ingvar Cronhammer has extended his light artwork on the underside of the walkway extension, to maintain the artwork's original intentions.
