Papirrækkerne is situated in the southern part of the new district, Dalum Paper Mill, near Odense, and consists of 63 terrace houses spanning 90-130 m2 across two floors. What sets Papirrækkerne apart is its unique combination of modern comfort and lifestyle, seamlessly integrated with the surrounding nature, all while maintaining the historical legacy of the paper factory.

Papirrækkerne is not merely a collection of residences but rather a new community where the landscape and neighbourhood blend. The architectural vision draws inspiration from the industrial heritage of the Paper Mill, manifested through large windows, high ceilings, and robust materials such as yellow stones and grey wood cladding. The weathered grey wood forms a striking bridge between nature and the raw, industrial in-situ concrete prevalent in the area.

A slightly staggered placement of the houses and subtle variations in their design create a dynamic and vibrant whole, ensuring that each residence feels unique. Every dwelling is designed to optimize natural light from two sides and is tailored to the sun's movement across the sky. The positioning towards the Odense River and south-facing green areas integrates the landscape directly between the houses, encouraging a connection with nature and providing a beautiful view of the river. The residences also feature spacious balconies, private gardens, and open access to communal green spaces, inviting play and outdoor activities.

Well-being for people and the environment

Papirrækkerne is certified as a Swan Eco Label construction, emphasizing a focus on well-being for both residents and low energy consumption. The houses are designed to use less than 90% of the energy permitted by building regulations in 2022.

Thus, Papirrækkerne represents a visionary approach to new residential construction, supporting well-being for both people and the environment, while seamlessly integrating and continuing the cultural heritage of the area.

Consequently, Papirrækkerne contributes to the overall development of Dalum Paper Mill, transforming it from a grey industrial area into a new green and lively neighbourhood as part of the comprehensive development plan for the area, led by C.F. Møller Architects.
