C.F. Møller Architects wins BO BEDRE Design Award with sustainable chair

The R.U.M. chair, designed by C.F. Møller Architects, has been awarded a design prize as the greenest idea of the year. By upcycling fishing nets and old computers, the chair points the way to sustainable design of the future.

For the 9th year in a row, the Danish interior magazine BO BEDRE (Better Living) in collaboration with the interior magazines Bolig Magasinet, Scandinavian Living and Costume Living celebrates the best design and designers of the year.

The R.U.M. chair, designed by C.F. Møller Architects and produced by Wehlers, wins in the category Green Idea of the Year.

About the R.U.M. chair, the judges say it is a piece of furniture that is visionary in its way of reusing different materials. Everything from fishing nets collected and sorted in and around Denmark, to E-waste from old computers and car equipment, is upcycled into a robust mass. The furniture shows the way for the sustainable design of the future. It is a green awakening that carries forward the green transition.

"With the green transition's much-needed focus on production and consumption, our R.U.M. chair demonstrates that transformation and circular thinking need not be at odds with beautiful and functional design," says Jon Brøcker, Head of Product Design at C.F. Møller Architects.

The Product Design department at C.F. Møller Architects collaborates with Danish and international companies in the development of usable, sustainable and original design solutions of long-lasting quality.
