C.F. Møller Architects designs residences of wood for environmentally friendly neighbourhood
C.F. Møller Architects, in collaboration with ALFA Development, has won the assignment to make new in the Öster district, east of Hyllievångsparken, as part of Malmö's ambitious climate initiative in accordance with the guidelines and objectives of LFM30.
The proposal has been named “Shiguchi”, which is the Japanese term for wooden structures where multiple parts are joined to create a collaborative structure with a high degree of detail and craftsmanship. The proposal aims to contribute to synergies between city, nature, innovation, and attractive living environments.
"The concept of Shiguchi also describes how we view architecture and design as a process and art form, where craftsmanship precision and material knowledge contribute to a sensory and tactile experience," explains Ola Jonsson, architect and partner at C.F. Møller Architects in Malmö, who stands behind the proposal.
The proposal focuses on the vision of a strong neighborhood feeling with collaborative qualities between the individual, the residence, and neighbourhood life. Two-story townhouses, along with generous entrances, provide the buildings with a stately and welcoming base. Next to the entrances, there are smaller multi-purpose rooms with large glass panels that can be used for various functions, such as housing a coffee service, bicycle maintenance, cultivation, or an studio/gallery with the purpose of interacting with the courtyard and life outside. Entrances, courtyard spaces, premises, residential gardens, and cultivation opportunities are examples of meeting places for community interaction.
