A new town hall is being built on the site of the old town hall, adjacent to Enköping's most popular park. The four-story building covers an area of approximately 5,300 square meters and serves as a workplace for around 450 employees. With the new town hall, Enköping municipality has a modern and efficient meeting place for its employees and citizens.
The town hall will feature smart and efficient flows, both interior and exterior. It meets high sustainability standards and is certified according to the BREEAM Outstanding level. The building also complies with energy class A according to the requirements of the National Board of Housing. The environmental impact is very low, due to wood being the primary building material, complemented by climate-improved concrete. Both the facade and the structural system are constructed with wood. Additionally, efficient energy solutions are utilized to minimize energy consumption during the operational phase, including the installation of solar panels on the roof and a combined ground source heat pump and free cooling system.
Inviting and functional
The building is positioned as a backdrop in the park and is designed to be inviting, experiential, and functional for both employees and visitors. It is constructed with a hybrid design and the goal to create a strong sense of wood. The entrance level of the building primarily houses external activities with meeting rooms, meeting lounges, wedding rooms, and a reception. Moving upward in the building, there are activity-based workplaces and support functions. The top floor features a dining area with access to a large southwest-facing rooftop terrace, an internal café, and additional meeting facilities. The terrace allows outdoor activities in both sun and shade, providing spaces for outdoor lunches and work. Two smaller atriums create spatial openness and visual connections throughout the building.
