Campus BØGEHØJ in Ebeltoft ready for inauguration: Unique timber building completed

Brand new facilities and 80 new rooms have been completed at Salling Group’s training centre, Campus BØGEHØJ in Ebeltoft. The new wing, Bøgelunden, also includes a rooftop, conference rooms, and quiet study spaces.

The inauguration on Wednesday, 24 September, marks the culmination of five years of intensive work. Bøgelunden is the crowning achievement of a comprehensive renovation. Designed by C.F. Møller Architects and constructed in timber, the new 80-room wing sets a strong example for sustainable building.

Owned by Salling Group, Campus BØGEHØJ welcomes more than 20,000 guests each year – the company’s trainees, managers, and employees – and is the place where all Salling Group trainees come for training.

“It has been a fantastic process working closely with Salling Group’s project manager and leader, Frank Kejlberg and Thomas Bæk, on this pioneering project with its timber construction and sedum roof. We are truly proud of the new building and look forward to welcoming our guests,” says Campus BØGEHØJ director, Karen Andresen.

At the inauguration, Mayor Michael Stegger Jensen will give a speech, Karin Salling will cut the ribbon, and Salling Group CEO Anders Hagh along with Louise Gade, Executive Vice President People, Culture & Sustainability, will also attend.
“I am really looking forward to the inauguration. We now have fantastic new facilities to offer, with room for even more guests. This also benefits Ebeltoft, as visitors to Campus BØGEHØJ bring more activity to the town. I am happy that we can contribute positively to local life,” says Karen Andresen.

For architect Klaus Toustrup, partner at C.F. Møller Architects, the inauguration is also a milestone:

“With Bøgelunden we wanted to create a project that honours Friis & Moltke’s original architecture while also pointing forward with a focus on climate and environment, as timber construction has a lower climate impact than conventional building. This is evident from the moment of arrival, through the conference facilities and rooms, and culminates on the rooftop with its unique view of the beautiful landscape,” he says.

About Campus BØGEHØJ

• 367 pallets of furniture have been delivered for the new wing by Holmris B8, which reuses and upcycles furniture.
• Consulting engineers Viggo Madsen and contractor Vognsen & Co. have played key roles in the project.
• The green sedum roofs relieve stormwater drainage systems during heavy rainfall, support biodiversity, and extend the lifespan of the roofing.
• Next year Campus BØGEHØJ celebrates its 30th anniversary with guided tours and an open house.
