The nursing home for a total of 146 residents is being built in the immediate vicinity of mountains and woods on a slightly sloping site at the Ellingsrudåsen nature area. From the square alongside the mountain the nursing home appears as a series of staggered building wings with a total of five floors.

The residential wings stand out from the others and create recesses and intersections along the facade, which help to scale down the building. The residential wings are clad with a light material, while all public functions are kept to an alternation between green and red-brown shades - as a reference to the changing of the seasons.

Bright, private homes fill the inside of the nursing home, all with a generous inflow of daylight - including a glass section extending from floor to ceiling.

On the different floors, varied use of colour facilitates orientation, and along the facades of the nursing home, spacious balconies ensure that residents can follow the seasons and enjoy nature from a safe vantage point.
